Reviews: KLUTCHclub

KLUTCHclub is a really neat company that lets you discover the latest and greatest in health and wellness products.  KLUTCHclub is a new monthly subscription service that sends a hand-picked and “themed” box of holistic health, fitness and wellness products – organic protein bars, workout wear, skincare products, teas, etc. – right to your doorstep every month.  Members learn about new, niche brands and products that suit their lifestyles, and get access to exclusive deals and offers from companies that share their values. Each box is full of $50+ of products, but only costs subscribers around $17 apiece.

Here is how KLUTCHclub works:
1. Sign up and choose a membership that's best for you. Once you sign up you can then create a profile to help them select the right health, wellness, and fitness products that'll completement your goals.

You can choose from the following subscriptions:
- 1-month ($18/box): This subscription will auto-renew each month and you can stop at any time.
- 3-months ($17/box): This subscription is for three months (3 KLUTCHclub boxes) and will not auto-renew.
- 1-year ($16/box): This subscription is for twelve months (12 KLUTCHclub boxes) and will not auto-renew.

Please note that shipping is free if you live within the contiguous USA.

2. Recieve your KLUTCHclub box right at your door. Then enjoy the box that contains over $50 worth of products and services that'll fit your lifestyle.

As stated above each KLUTCHclub box is themed so they focus on different types of products.  Here is what the past few months KLUTCHclub boxes were about.

April's box theme was "Spring Clean Your Body". It focused on defrost and detox! Warming up to new ways to get your body back on track.

May's box theme was "Get Ready for Summer". It focused on products to help you get ready for summer. Also 10% of purchases that were made in the months of April and May was donated to Bright Pink, a nonprofit organization that focuses on the prevention and early detecton of breast and ovarian cancer in young women and providing support for high-risk individuals.

June's box theme is "cente(RED)".  It focuses on products created around the world.  Also 10% of all purchases in the month of June will be donated to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa.

3. Gain access to members-only promotions and provide feedback. You'll receive additional exclusive promotions online. Also provide them with valuable feedback and earn a free box in no time with their generous rewards system.

Here are examples of the members-only promotions that they have:

In my blogger group I was notified of an opportunity to write a review for KLUTCHclub.  I checked out the website and was rather interested.  I checked out the subscriptions and noticed that shipping is only free if you live within the contiguous USA.  Since I live in Alaska I decided to contact them to see if I could participate in this review and giveaway.  They replied back and were curious as to where my readers live.  I gave them a table of the top ten United States where readers follow me and they agreed to sending me a box.  They did tell me how much shipping would cost for me which is $14 per box.  I was disappointed in learning this as I was very interested in buying a subscription but knowing the cost of the shipping is almost as much as the box itself was a little hard to swallow.  I do however think $18 (or even $16 for a year) is a great price for a box when the box retails for at least $50.

On May 7th my April KLUTCHclub box was ordered and I received it via FedEx on May 24th.

The picture above is what I recieved.  Inside the sturdy blue rectangle box was an informational card explaining the products inside and some brown tissue paper.  The following products were also in the box:
- A detoxifying Yoga workout DVD from MTV Power Yoga star, Kristin McGee called Power Yoga.
- A brand new energizing drink product to kick-start your workout called HyDrive Energy drink mix in Berry Blast (0.02 oz).
- Post workout coconut water hydration to replenish electrolytes called ZICO Pure Premium Coconut Water (14 fl oz).
- (3) Soothing teas with plant based anti-oxidants to improve your skin called Tea Forte Extraordinary Teas (Cucumber Mint, Cherry Marzipan, and Honey Yuzu).  One sample of each flavor.  This also came with an informational brochure.
- A cleansing organic deep-pore facial wash called Shea Terra Organics Rose Hips Black Soap Deep Pore Facial Cleanser (1 oz).
- Organic omega 3, flax and fish oil supplements in new flavors called Barlean's Organic Oils Flax Oil (12 fl oz).
- (3) Satisfying healthy snacks and nutritious treats (Kind Plus Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate + Protein (1.4 oz), Enjoy Life Not Nuts! Seed And Fruit Mix in Mountain Mambo (1.63 oz), and Enjoy Life Plentils Crunch Lentil Chips  in Garlic & Parmesan (0.8 oz).
- A gift from an organic yoga clothing company which is $25 off at Hyde Yoga.

So as you can see there are many neat products to try out.  Since this is a review about the KLUTCHclub and not the contents in the box I am not going to review about the products themselves but to how useful they are to me.  So here are my thoughts to the usefulness of the products for me.  I'm new to yoga still and so the DVD will be interesting and fun.  It'll be used and added to my collection of other work out videos to add more variety to my exercise routines.  All three of the snacks were very tasty and didn't last long as they were thoroughly enjoyed.  As for the beverages well they were a different story.  The coconut water was ok and since I have never tasted pure coconut water it isn't something I'd buy frequently.  However, I was glad to try it out.  I'm not the biggest fan of energy drinks but this one did taste fairly good so that was nice.  Tasting the flax seed oil isn't something I'd do again.  I will be adding it to my foods to get the benefits of it since I didn't care for the taste of it.  I'm not a fan of tea so I would most likely give these to my dad or sister who enjoys drinking tea.  I have a lot of facial cleansers from trying a lot of samples.  This facial cleanser is more like a mask as you leave it on your face for 5 - 10 minutes.  Since it more like a mask it'll be nice to add to  my skin care collection and add variety to my cleansing routine.  The gift certificate for me is not real helpful.  I checked out the site of Hyde Yoga and the clothes range in price of $45+ and shipping is free when you purchase $200+.  When I check out the shipping to Alaska it is basically the price of the gift certificate.  I did look up the shipping price to California and the lowest to there is $7.26.  However, the clothes do look really nice so it is tempting in that aspect.

Overall, the KLUTCHclub box is nice and most of the products are useful to me.  However, what is most important to me is trying new products that I did not know existed or would not normally purchase to learn if I like them to decide if I'll be purchasing that product again in the future.  After trying out the box and knowing that I would have to pay for shipping since I live in Alaska it was hard for me to decide if a subscription would be worth it to me.  I thought about it and with careful consideration decided that the price is too high for me at this time.  Maybe some day though when we move back to the states or they lower the shipping price which I was told they are trying to do I'll reconsider purchasing a subscription but for now I can check out the site and see what I'm missing out on each month.

If you are interested in learning more about KLUTCHclub you can visit the KLUTCHclub website, "like" them on Facebook, or follow them on Twitter.  If you'd like the purchase of subscription you can visit their subscriptions page.   KLUTCHclub is sponsoring Bright Pink, a nonprofit organization focused on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women and providing support for high-risk individuals.  All purchases using gift code "BrightPink" will receive a 10% discount and profits will be donated to Bright Pink.

Disclaimer: I received the April KLUTCHclub box with all of the items listed and pictured above in this post to help me write this review.  The opinions of the products in the KLUTCHclub box and the KLUTCHclub membership written above are my own and not influenced in any way.  My experience with the products and service may be different than yours.
